Home Moravian Church has a 1910 Model 0, 5' 10", Steinway "living room" grand piano as part of an estate settlement.
The piano has been moved to our church and will be made available for sale first to our congregation and then to the general public if not sold internally.
The sale of this beautiful piano will contribute significantly to the musical tradition at Home Church. Proceeds will be used to start a permanent "Music@Home" fund. This fund will support the continuation of the Music@Home Concerts that have become an integral part of the music of this church and the surrounding community during the past year.
The piano has been appraised for $22,000 (new replacement value $74,800) by Bill Huesman, a well respected technician and appraiser located at UNCSA. This appraisal is on file in the church office and is available to all interested parties. We will be using a sealed bid process to effect the sale. Jane Shore (336-722-6171) has all the information pertinent to submitting a bid. A reserve price of $16,500 has been established for the piano (no bids below this amount will be accepted). Bidding will end at noon on March 20.
Our hope is that this wonderful instrument can find new life in the home of a congregational family who also wants to make a contribution to the musical legacy of Home Church. Thank you for your prayerful consideration of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
