Troopers are seeking a hit-and-run driver who killed Richard Clay Wise (45) of Thomasville.
The accident occurred on Old Highway 109 on Tuesday, November 1, 2011.
Mr. Wise was struck and killed by the vehicle. Both Wise and the vehicle were travelling in the same direction. Mr. Wise was struck from behind while riding his bike and thrown into a ditch. He was pronounced dead at Thomasville Medical Center.
Comments on the wxii12 page concerning this accident included those of people who knew the deceased. They state that Richard Wise wore reflective gear while riding and that this was his form of transportation.
In a situation like Mr. Wise, the estate of the decedent has a wrongful death claim/case against the hit-and-run driver. Even if the driver is not found, there’s a good chance of recovery for loss of consortium, pain & suffering from the decedent’s own homeowners insurance or renters insurance policy.
The comments on the link are interesting because it demonstrates some non-bicyclists’ views of sharing the road with bicyclists.
